The Interactive Creative Studio is a FREE online space that combines the creative art experience with the energy of group interaction. Interaction with others who enjoy expressing themselves through self-awareness, discovery, and the practice of mindfulness. Whether you're looking to unwind, process your thoughts, or dive deeper into your personal journey, there is a seat saved for you.

Connectivity is a huge factor in being creative.

I designed this online creative studio as an open, welcoming forum for anyone seeking emotional, mental, and physical well-being and growth. Creativity is such a powerful tool for personal healing and discovery. I wanted to build a hands-on, supportive space where we can connect, experiment, and grow together without judgment  – Natalie Wilkins

Expressive Collage

Expressive Collage is an intuitive process of visual translation. In this exercise we will create a collage utilizing the freedom of spontaneity, intuition, and emotive expression. The page becomes a mirror for an internal landscape, capturing thoughts, goals, and emotional states that are often hard to put into words.

  • Intention: Intuitive deconstruction and reconstruction. The magic happens in the shift from tearing down to building back up. Tear away old narratives to assemble a new composition that speaks to where you are right now.
  • Materials: Old magazines/newspapers, scissors, a glue stick, and thick paper.

The Tree of Life Watercolor Painting

The Tree of Life serves as an ancient, universal symbol of growth, deep roots, and interconnectedness. In this practice, the tree becomes a vessel for emotional release. Rather than forcing rigid branches or realistic bark, you allow the fluid nature of watercolor guide the structure.

  • Intention: Releasing control and embracing the flow state. This exercise is about unlearning the need for precise outlines and allowing water to dictate where the story goes.
  • Materials: A basic watercolor pan set, a cup of water, brushes, paper towels, and thick mixed-media or watercolor paper.

Tangle Drawings – Filling Space with Patterns

Tangle drawing is the mindful practice of filling defined spaces with structured, repeating patterns. Rather than focusing on rendering realistic objects or shading complex forms, the drawing process is broken down into simple, repetitive line sequences—dots, spirals, grids, hatches, and curves. As these patterns weave together and fill negative space, the page transforms into a dense, tapestry-like composition. The process relies on deliberate, step-by-step mark-making where there are no mistakes, only opportunities to shift a pattern in new directions.

  • Intention: Mindful flow and anxiety reduction. The primary purpose of tangle drawing is to anchor your attention firmly in the present moment. By repeating simple geometric or organic line steps, your brain shifts out of active problem-solving mode and enters a meditative, rhythmic flow state.
  • Materials: Patterns handout – download .jpeg below, sketchbook or drawing paper, fine black pen.

Paper Kintsugi

Integrate the ancient process of Japanese Kintsugi --  repairing and strengthing broken pottery with gold -- into paper!

  • Intention: Resilience, transformation, and honoring imperfection. Kintsugi ("golden joinery") treats breakage and repair as part of an object's history rather than something to disguise. On paper, focus on how tearing and mending creates a rich texture that tells a story of strength through vulnerability.
  • Materials: Decorative or handmade paper, gold metallic paint, a painbrush, wax paper/parchment/plastic wrap, paper towels.

Body Mapping

Explore the intersection of physical awareness, emotion, and self-expression. You will construct a visual "map" of your physical form—translating internal sensations into color, texture, line, and form.

  • Intention: Non-judgemental witnessing, grounding, and embodiment. Cultivate an accepting environment where every sensation—whether tension, warmth, fatigue, lightness, or quiet space—is met with curiosity rather than a need to fix. Engage the senses through tactile mediums to help individuals transition out of busy thoughts and ground themselves deeply within the physical self.
  • Materials: Work with an array of art materials—fluid watercolors, soft pastels, raw charcoal, acrylic paint pens, fabrics, and/or collage elements—to construct a visual, intuitive representation of your inner landscape. Download figure .jpg below.
